
SCHOLARSHIPS
The California Scholarship Federation organization provides two scholarships for CSF members: the Michelson Memorial Award and the Seymour Memorial Award. For more information click here.
Michelson Memorial Award
History: This award was established in 2012 in memory of the late Glenn Michelson, past 20-year CSF adviser of Sequoia High School in Redwood City and past Board of Directors member. Upon his passing, the Board of Directors voted to have an annual essay contest in Glenn’s honor.

Requirements:

Must be a senior

Must be a member of good standing

Must write an 800-1,000 word essay responding to the prompt: "Describe a volunteer experience you have had and its impact on you and your community"

Submission period: ​November 1-December 22
​
Award: 1 winner; $1,000
Sunny Hills CSF
Our club provides scholarships to our Sealbearing seniors towards the end of the school year. Students must apply. Applications open in April and Ms. Kwon will distribute the awards.
Seymour Memorial Award
History: This award was established to honor both Charles F. Seymour and his devoted wife, Marian H. Seymour, who together supplied the inspiration and leadership which fostered the California Scholarship Federation. The Seymour Award is regarded as one of the highest scholastic honors given to high school students in the state of California.

Requirements:

Must be a senior

Must be nominated by Ms. Kwon (2 max per school)

Must have earned Sealbearer status by the end of the first semester of their senior year (been an active member for at least 4 semesters prior to second semester senior year)

Must attend the Seymour finalist interview for the South region

Must submit 6 required documents for nomination

Must submit an adviser letter of recommendation and a community leader letter of recommendation

Nomination period: January 1-February 18

Award: 10 finalists in each region receive $2,000 and 1 person of the 10 receives an additional $3,000 after the interview process

Here are some websites where you can find great scholarships (any grade)! Keep in mind to look out for local ones too (normally released by Sunny Hills in February/March). Another tip is to look up a topic you're interested in and add scholarships after it (for instance: "coffee scholarships" or "vegan scholarships")
